George Emanuel Firearms Training and Education is proud to announce that we have added “Pistol Beyond the Basics (One) to our course offerings.
Our NRA Basic Pistol students have been asking for the next step in training. As there is essentially little, if anything, available to them on a continuing basis, we have responded with our first offering in “Pistol Beyond the Basics.” This addition is the first part of many additional offerings on this topic. Stay tuned for further announcements at a future date.
This course combines classroom and range time in about equal parts.
The classroom portion will cover.
Safety, which is always job number One
How we as adults learn physical skills
The physical demands of shooting
Physiological Considerations
Firearms and Ammunition for self-defense
Additional equipment, both necessary and facilitative
Gear selection, do’s and please don’ts
Ideas and tools for home practice
The Range portion will cover
Propper placement of holsters, magazines, etc.
Drawing from the holster efficiently and safely
Firearm manipulation through the use of drills, including
Reloading techniques
Malfunction clearing
Sight acquisition
Defensive accuracy
Trigger Discipline
You will need the following for the course:
A semi-automatic firearm in a caliber suitable for self-defense 9mm or larger, no magnums; while we believe in 22 cal for learning and even practice, it is not generally considered a self-defense caliber. If you want to use it for class with this understanding, we will allow it if you meet all other requirements.
3 magazines for your pistol
2 magazine pouch
100 rounds of practice (ball, fmj etc) ammunition
Holster, OWB strong side only, no appendix in this class, sorry, No Serpa holsters. Hoster must be leather or Kydex and must completely cover the trigger.
Chair, lunch, clothing appropriate to the weather, crew neck shirts, no open toes shoes, sunblock, rain gear, lunch snacks, water supplied
Specific Drills will teach the above elements by building on them as we continue practicing those already covered earlier in the day. The net effect is that you will have done sufficient repetitions of each skill as you incorporate new ones into your toolkit.
You will feel comfortable with the essential techniques and items as you strive to become a responsible “License to Carry Firearms” permit holder.

Will this be the end? No, training never ends. Understanding is necessary, as understanding is the foundation of all skills. We are already working on the next level but are anxious to get you started on the next step, so the rollout of future courses will come in stages from this point forward. It will likely be mandatory that you only progress from One to Two, Three, etc.
How frequently we do additional classes will depend on the response of our students, but once per quarter would be a good guess at his point.
If you are between the ages of 16 and 21 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must remain for the entire class. No Exceptions
If you have any questions you can contact us at; George@gemanuel.com and we’ll get back to you quickly.
