Urgent Ramifications of New York vs NRA Verdict!
The trial is concluded, and Wayne LaPierre is held accountable for a staggering $5+ million repayment, having already reimbursed $1 million for “excess benefits” to the NRA. Legal fees continue to mount, potentially reaching tens or even hundreds of millions, leaving coffers empty and essential services in a state of perilous underfunding. The Training and Education department is stretched thin. Three employees are struggling to serve 100,000 instructors and millions of members Shockingly, legal fees surpass $100 million, dwarfing the paltry $7 million training budget nearly 15 times over.
This blatant neglect of fiduciary responsibility is unfathomable. Millions have been squandered in “no-bid” contracts and benefits to associates. Extravagant gifts to friends and relatives, LaPierre’s malfeasance is as insidious as any theft ever recorded, and it’s OUR money – or at least it was.
The financial loss is staggering, crippling the NRA’s Second Amendment efforts for years to come. Membership hemorrhages, down 20-25% from its peak, while insufficient funds are allocated to the Second Amendment cause to have any substantial effect.
Despite a level playing field provided by the reconfigured Supreme Court, we can’t dismiss the specter of gun control. The zealots are having a terrible tantrum. The NRA, no longer financially robust, can’t be the lead defender. While effective for occasional Amicus briefs, they can no longer lead the charge against oppression. We must seek like-minded allies elsewhere.
As an instructor and longstanding NRA member, it pains me to convey this news. We cannot afford a respite while the NRA undergoes a protracted and painful reorganization. Efforts persist in perpetuating shenanigans. A Special Master appointed by the Court is imperative to root out the miscreants in power.
I refuse to wait for the erstwhile leader of our pro-gun forces to recuperate. The leader may falter, but the troops can still fight. This is our Valley Forge, New Orleans, Chapultepec, San Juan Hill, Belleau Wood, Bastogne, Inchon, Khe San, and Mosul. We’ve triumphed before because the guy in the foxhole saved it for us. Will you be just like him? Will you save it for our posterity?
The Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, The Firearms Policy Coalition, National Association for Gun Rights, and local groups like Pennsylvania Firearms Owners Association, Pennsylvania Gun Rights, Firearms Owners Against Crime and many others, need and deserve our immediate support. Any of these are well worth your consideration and support. Pick the one(s) you like and support them.
NYSRPA v Bruen stands as a monumental Supreme Court victory. While it began in New York, its impact on our 2A Rights will resonate for generations, if we do our part. Bruen bestowed a level playing field, challenging the government to justify its actions. No longer do “feelings” make decisions, for now, the “law” is restored. Rational thought, not irrational, unfounded so-called principles will determine the path going forward.
We must be the instrument steering our nation back on track. The Court won’t do it for us, just as the line judge doesn’t score touchdowns. But now, at least, we have a leveled field.
All we need is the quarterback under the center, the ball to be snapped, the ends to run like hell, the blockers to knock the opposition on their collective ass, and the running backs to find a way through the chaos. The Goal Line hasn’t moved since 1776, and we face only useful idiots with nothing but their feelings opposing us. Join at least one, preferably a few 2A groups, and get in the game.
While my friends jest about my age, likening my fights to Valley Forge, I assure you, I am in this battle. Just as James Wittemore answered the call on April 19, 1775, at 80 years old, his birthday in fact, shot British soldiers, endured a musket ball to the face, was bayonetted mercilessly, left for dead, and ultimately passed away at 96 – I am committed. Where are you in this fight?
We can persevere without the NRA, but one thing is certain – we can’t do it without YOU! The urgency is now. Act!
